For several years I have lived in a micro district - an area of blocked panel buildings. We all called these residential areas sleeping district as people would only stay here overnight and would commute to work. They were somehow boring zones of grey copy paste buildings. The apartments were small with a crappy insulation, so people started glazing the balconies transforming them into storage rooms, apartment extension and so. Now every balcony looks different and I am not sure if it ads extra beauty, but definitely gives the buildings some character.

I made this illustration for the solo exhibition in my home country Lithuania. Some people called this work Chernobyl, as it is the same style architectureand it seems to have the dark mood. But if it feels too dark - think of the various glazed balconies and stories happening there.
